Industrial Action - Thursday 14th February
by Adriano Di Prato - Wednesday, 13 February 2013, 7:39 AM

Dear Parents,

Every three years the Independent Education Union on behalf of Catholic teachers negotiates a new Multi-Employer Agreement with the Catholic Education Commission of Victoria.

As you may be aware over the past 18 months staff in schools have been in negotiation with the State Government regarding pay and conditions. To date a resolution has not been reached.

Due to this ongoing industrial dispute a number of Marcellin College Staff have chosen to take part in Industrial Action on Thursday, 14th February and therefore will not be at the College on that day.

The intentions of the College in these circumstances are always to maintain as consistent a learning environment as possible. Therefore, I have decided to run all classes at Years 7, 8 and 9. No formal classes for Year 10 to 12 students will run on Thursday. However some senior students will be required to attend if they have pre-arranged formal SAC assessment. Year 10 and VCE students are encouraged to utilize this day for productive study and revision.

If you have any queries regarding arrangements for this day please contact your son’s Pastoral Teacher, House Coordinator or relevant Head of School for clarification.

I apologise for any inconvenience that this action may cause.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter and continued support of Marcellin College.

Yours sincerely,

Mark Murphy

Principal
